This is a question I hear often, especially from people relocating here or planning a move in the next year.
Is Coastal Virginia still a good place to buy a home in 2026?
From a local standpoint, the answer is yes—but what matters most is whether it’s the right time for you personally.
Coastal Virginia continues to be a consistent and desirable place to live. People are drawn here for a mix of reasons—water access, military and civilian job opportunities, and a wide variety of neighborhoods.
The market is balanced compared to the last few years, but it still moves quickly in well-priced areas. Homes that are priced correctly and well maintained tend to attract attention early.
The most confident buyers right now tend to be the ones who take a little time upfront to understand:
Each part of Coastal Virginia has its own rhythm—from Virginia Beach to Chesapeake to Norfolk. Understanding those differences can make the process feel much more clear and intentional.
If you’re trying to decide whether now makes sense for your situation, I’m always happy to share what I’m seeing locally and help you think it through.
