Looking for a fun and family-friendly way to celebrate Halloween this year? ๐
Trunk-or-treat events are a great way for families to enjoy costumes, candy, games, and fall festivities in a community setting. Instead of going door-to-door, children can visit decorated vehicles gathered in one location and enjoy an evening of Halloween fun.
There are plenty of opportunities happening throughout Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, Norfolk, Suffolk, Newport News, Portsmouth, Hampton, and surrounding communities this October.

Not every family wants a traditional trunk-or-treat, and there are plenty of other ways to celebrate Halloween around Coastal Virginia.
For example, Town and Treat at Town Center takes place October 24 from 11:00 AMโ2:00 PM and features trick-or-treating at participating Town Center businesses, games, music, face painting, costumed characters, and a costume contest.
So whether your family prefers a quick evening of trunk-or-treating or an entire afternoon of fall activities, there are plenty of options to choose from.
Check before you leave!
Halloween event information can change quickly. Weather, parking, registration requirements, and other circumstances can affect the date, time, or location.
Before heading out, I recommend checking the event’s official website, Facebook page, or social media page for the most current information. Some events may require registration, have limited parking, or make last-minute schedule changes.
It’s also a good idea to arrive early at popular eventsโespecially those taking place at churches, schools, and smaller parking lots.
And don’t forget the Halloween essentials:
๐ Costumes
๐ฌ Trick-or-treat bags
๐ Comfortable shoes
๐ง๏ธ A weather backup plan
๐ฑ Your phone for those inevitable costume pictures!
One of my favorite things about living in Coastal Virginia is how many family-friendly events there are throughout the fall.
Whether you’re spending the afternoon at a pumpkin patch, attending a neighborhood festival, or taking the kids to a trunk-or-treat, October is a wonderful time to get out and enjoy the community.
Happy Halloween, Hampton Roads! ๐
Whether you’re relocating to Hampton Roads or simply looking for a new neighborhood that better fits your family’s lifestyle, I’m here to help.
